Southern Pacific Brewing Opens

The Mission's New Beer Garden

southern pacific brewing!

The pow has finally blanketed Tahoe, and, in a few hours, the city will be a wasteland.

So you’re an apres-ski closer to snagging a reclaimed wood stool at Southern Pacific Brewing, opening tonight.

Two years in the making, the brewery and restaurant unveils 8,500 square feet of blissful indoor/outdoor beer garden. Architect Seth Boor (Four Barrel, Flora Grubb) transformed the industrial structure into a habit-forming paradise (a glass facade and ample skylights, rusty fig trees).

Sip and eat your way through the menu: Brewmaster Andy French (with owners Anthony LaVia and Chris Lawrence) pours years of experience into six clean, tasty beers, including an IPA, pale ale, and blond, plus fifteen more on tap. All pair nicely with and in chef Tyler Morrish’s (Social Kitchen) brew-infused bites, like beer mash breadsticks, lentil burgers, and pale ale pork sausage.

Just in time for Beer Week.

Southern Pacific Brewing, 620 Treat Avenue, at 19th Street (415-891-9775 or southernpacificbrewing.com). It opens at 7 p.m. this weekend; regular hours start Monday.
