The other day we meet a boy. (Cute, too!) He asks us out, then flakes. Pleading sickness, the flu, and what-have-you. We get the message. (It takes one to know one.)

What ever is a girl to do? Cry a river? Binge on candy?

And don’t go lowbrow. Some postmortem research yielded a source (sure to come in handy next time we get dissed). Jodi Zimmerman hand-makes one-of-a-kind vases: rhinestone-studded denim, faux fur, even pinstripe or gray flannel. She specializes in custom designs. (You pick the fabric, she does the rest.) A black leather cone with a safety-pin seam (“Where’s your whip, tiger?”).

Next time maybe she’ll use the Chinese take-out menu and chopsticks we use on eves we don’t get the call back. Oh, the aroma of hoisin sauce…
