Blue Fin Opens

Blue Fin Restaurant

Supporting the city’s economy by going to the theater?

You’ll need a great place to eat before (or after). Thank you, Mr. Steve Hanson, for the newest addition to Times Square, Blue Fin. Paul Sale, formerly of Le Bernardin, is running the stoves. Dessert is supplied by pastry chef Joseph Murphy, who perfected his craft at Gotham Bar & Grill. The two-story, 400-seat restaurant is fit to serve some of the better midtown grub. Will it? Time will tell…

Oh, you wanted scene with your meal? Located in the W Times Square hotel, the restaurant will serve pan-seared New Zealand John Dory, thyme-seared wild salmon, and dry-aged porterhouse steak, and will even go as far as flying in fresh barnacles from Chile for the raw bar.

With high mirrors, glowing resin tables, and a floating staircase that leads to a jazz club upstairs, Blue Fin makes a night at the theater — well, how should we put it … more theatrical?

Blue Fin, 1567 Broadway, at 47th Street (212-918-1400).
