When was the last time you saw a group of chicks playing catch in the park or whaling on one another in a street-hockey match?

Face it: As far as extracurriculars go, guys have it better than girls.

No wonder. The gear (the cool, badass kind that inspires the best kind of street play, that is) that’s available to the fairer sex sucks, to be blunt. Understandable. Pink baseball mitts? Floral knee pads? Ridiculous.

Emilie Oliver, skater-cum-designer, and Shodie Lyon, art director, are doing something about it. Cherry Skateboards encourage and inspire girls to rip up the pavement. In addition to boards, the collection, which has a modern Japanese artsy look, includes hoodie sweatshirts, tees, tanks, and skating paraphernalia. Storage issues? The boards are so beautiful they can do double duty as wall ornaments.

Think of it as Avril Lavigne meets Hello Kitty and bring it on.
