Couldn’t get your friends to attend your choir concert? No one’s impressed by your Tae Kwon Do brown belt? Your Shrek impersonation is going completely unappreciated?
What you need is a family.
You’re not the only one. Caring for Children & Families with AIDS operates programs for kids who’ve been removed from biological or foster families. The day-to-day supervision is taken care of, so that volunteers get to play fun parent, running activities, chaperoning field trips, or spending one-on-one time reading and giving homework help. CCFA is open to whatever skills you have — so get out that brown belt and start a martial-arts class. Or put that master’s in art history to use and take a group to the Getty. Volunteers can also take part in fundraisers, food drives, and CCFA’s two annual benefits. However you get involved, they’ll love you for it.
That unconditional stuff is what families do best, remember?
