Those soulful brown eyes. The don’t-hate-me-cuz-I’m-beautiful pout. That silky, non-shedding coat.

My, but Rover has a priceless mug. A face worth saving for the ages, worth showing off for all to see.

And the best you could do was put his paw print on a lopsided ashtray?

He deserves better. Like star treatment at the hands of Jim Dratfield, photographer of choice for the international pet-set. (Or whatever you’d call the Aniston-Pitt and Flynn Boyle puppy posse.) Dratfield’s career as a petographer began after a particularly excellent photo session with his late, beloved companion, Kuma the Wonderdog. He has been on assignment to everywhere the wild things are — house calls, barn calls, even island calls.

Those hoping for the Richard Avedon effect will end up with elegant, stately, sepia-toned portraits, great for hanging over the fireplace or in the beach house. But the menagerie of available photo-affixed items include briefcases, business-card holders, cuff links and jewelry, probably even ashtrays.

After all, a picture is worth a thousand purrs.
