It's My Party ...

Birthday Wishes Charity

Now that you a big tough grown-up, a birthday is just another candle on the cake.

But back when you were little, it was so much more. It was the one day of the year when it was your inalienable right to gorge on cake, cheat at pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey, and generally boss people around.

And while it’s perfectly obvious that all children should be allowed the same privilege, reality is a different story. In the Boston area, there are hundreds of homeless kids whose parents don’t have the resources to celebrate the big day. Birthday Wishes, Inc. is a nonprofit devoted to making sure every kid gets the me-fest he or she deserves. The organization throws birthday parties for more than 250 children living in eleven Boston-area shelters. How cool is that?

Cool enough to volunteer, that’s how cool. Bake a cake, provide goody bags, or donate a service like face-painting, a clown, or magic act.

Because every kid deserves the chance once a year to close their eyes, make a wish, and eat way too much ice cream.
