Got Your Back

Heartstrung Trunk Show

Our delicate little shoulders: They just can’t seem to face the outside world without some protection.

First came the pashmina. Then the poncho. And bringing up the back this summer: the shrug.

It’s only natural that, come fall, we’ll be looking for a new frontrunner in the over-the-shoulder race.

Part shrug (one side is a long, fitted sleeve) and part wrap (the other side is a shawl that wraps around back and drops 34 inches from the shoulder), the Heartstrung shwrap is leading the pack. Available in three fabrics — acrylic, Supplex Lycra, and stretch charmeuse satin — it comes in a slew of autumn-ish colors like toast, chocolate, and olive.

In fact, the entire line  is worth keeping your eye on: Its comfy and versatile cuts (tunics, long halter tops) are perfect for the transition from beach to apple orchard.

Making this one collection ripe for the picking.

Available at Shopgirl, 1206 West Webster Avenue, at Racine Avenue (773-935-7467); Lili Boutique, 1543 North Wells Street, between North Avenue and Schiller Street (312-654-8511). Trunk show at Shopgirl, Saturday, July 23, noon-4 p.m.
