Having options is superb.

Having too many can be tragic.

Last time you stared at the endless aisles in a beauty supply megastore, the decision-making quadrant of your brain froze and you had to be escorted out at closing time. (Plus, you left empty-handed.)

Truth & Beauty may well be more your speed. Built in the back rooms of Silver Lake boutique Patty Faye, the simple white and chocolate interior and chic, clean shelves lend the shop its sunny disposition. No rows and rows of schlock and mystery here — just a tightly edited selection of high-end beauty products like DuWop, Hamadi, and Aromatherapy Associates.

The quality apothecary also carries lovely gifts, such as MarieBelle teas, as well as items for the home from Jonathan Adler and Kerry Cassill. It also happens to be one of the few places on the east side that offers Fresh. (They can’t keep the rice dry oil in stock.) It’s the perfect alternative to that product emporium.

In other words, the kind of options you can handle.
