Coming to America

Peche Mignon French Home Decor Store Opens

Once upon a time, people from the Old World sold their belongings, hopped on a boat, and started over in the New World.

These days there’s a bit more red tape involved. But that didn’t stop Diane Valranges from divesting herself of most of her worldly possessions in France to finance her new life in San Francisco.

Lucky for us, things have worked out pas mal for her: Witness Péché Mignon, her excellent brand-new boutique nestled on the busy blocks of cute Clement Street, which is chockful of housewares from her native homeland.

Little mademoiselle did her homework. You won’t find any of her merch in other shops (which may be why she’s keeping brand names a secret). You’ll fawn over antique and hand-painted china, not to mention crystal, teacups and pots, brightly colored ceramics, soaps, books, candles, sachets, country-striped oven mitts and napkins, floral tablecloths and runners, and jute bread bags.

So what’d she do with all the stuff from her apartment in Paris? It’s right here, decorating the lovely space.

She may be far from it, but she’s feeling pretty much right at home. As will you.
