Hog Heaven

Aqua Opens

The only Latin you speak is of the swine variety. (Um, uts-whay e-thay ime-tay?)

Lucky for you, it doesn’t take a classics major to suss out the meaning of Aqua, the recently opened restaurant in Oak Lawn. The soothing hideaway is bathed in cool watery vibes: sea foam green and blue textured walls, copper and stainless steel accents, and stained concrete floors.

If that doesn’t tip you off, check out the menu. The extensive seafood selection, flown in biweekly, includes shellfish, Prince Edward Island mussels, and monkfish osso buco (dense, sweet fish simmered over roasted root vegetables and prosciutto chips).

Aqua also serves favorites like veal rack in poached pear and port wine sauce, seared duck breast with a fig-shallot compote and balsamic syrup, and handmade desserts. Classic flavors, soothing surroundings.

And no Latin of any type required.

Though you may make a pig out of yourself.

Aqua Italian Bistro, 4140 Lemmon Avenue, Oak Lawn (214-599-2616).
