Divine Brown

Chocolate Deities

Come now. Don’t pretend you didn’t buy into that whole new-agey business of Buddhas, incense, love candles, and chai a few years back.

And don’t pretend you’re not still into it now.

If you do, you’ll never allow yourself the fun of a chocolate deity. The handcrafted bars and figures can be used as prayer offerings, altarpieces, home decor, or, of course, a snack. There are more than 30 deities from which to choose, including the popular Ganesh, Krishna, and the Venus of Willendorf , based on the famous well-endowed naked goddess. But our favorite is the Laughing Buddha, a squat candy guy that’s even available in hand-painted gold.

The gift-wrapped goods arrive in a box with message-inscribed ribbons and a note card telling the story of your deity. So they’ll make excellent presents for friends who’ve found spirituality.

Just in case you’re still in denial about your own.
