There’s No Place Like Home

Body and Skin Spa

Disgruntled employees. Cold, impersonal interiors. Teeming masses. Strange smells.

Sometimes it’s hard to tell if you’re in a spa or a train station.

Unless you’re at Body and Skin. The all-purpose spa, offering skin and body treatments, massage, and personal training, is in owner Karen Fisher’s charming home.

The calm, cozy, space, decked in warm woods and surrounded by a garden, is sure to put you right at ease. And with Fisher’s cred (she used to be at Elizabeth Arden and was the first independent aesthetician to sell Clarins in the U.S.), you’ll definitely feel well-looked-after.

As for treatments, she works with you to figure out exactly what you need — but if you’re in doubt, we recommend a calming light facial that incorporates penetrating moisture, redness reduction, and a head and neck massage. And since it’s a totally private, one-on-one experience, you’ll always leave feeling a little more grand and centered.

And a little less Grand Central.

Body and Skin, 1428 Fox Hall Road NW, between P and 44th Streets (202-338-3841).
