In the Kitchen with Delilah

Delilah Bakery

You’re no stranger to the ol’ one-two switcheroo. (One: order takeout; two: use the good china.)

And your lovely guests have always played along. (“Loved the lo-mein, dolly.”)

But try that trick with sweets from Delilah Bakery and you might actually fool a few folks.

Inspired by down-home Southern baking, the new operation delivers fresh cakes, cuppies, and pies right to your door. Cake comes in flavors both classic (chocolate, vanilla, yellow) and grown-up (German chocolate with pecan frosting, coconut with marshmallow). And some frostings are for adults only, since they’re spiked with the likes of whiskey and rum.

Puffy cupcakes are baked in small panettone cups, rendering them about one and a half times the average size. (Because one is never enough, and two are always too much.) But the pecan-bourbon, old-fashioned apple, peanut butter, and Toll House cookie pies will have you wondering why cupcakes have been getting so much dang attention.

Which means they’ll also provide a great distraction.

Since the last thing you need is someone snooping around your kitchen.
