Let It B

The B Book Club

Some of life’s greatest delights start with the letter B.

Like ‘boobs’ and ‘billions’ and ‘bed’, to name a few. And now ‘The B Club’, a groovy (and completely free) book club which meets bi-monthly to discuss a particular hot novel, with a little light entertainment thrown in. And anyone can attend.

Bookworms must brush up on whatever cult title is the focus for the month, which becomes the basis for prize-winning games (‘book bingo’ is a must-play), along with special guest performances, readings and acoustic sets from up-and-coming bands.

The next meeting, on Brett Easton Ellis’s Less Than Zero, happens tomorrow, with Dazed columnist Michael Smith reading from his Beat memoir, The Giro Playboy, spoken word by Sore Throat and music from The Soho Dolls. Future highlights include performances by burlesque diva Paloma Faith, offbeat poet Lemn Sissay and The Paddingtons.

And, with any luck, plenty of bellinis.

The B Club, at The GE Club, The Great Eastern Hotel, Liverpool St., EC2. Wednesday, 8 p.m. For more info, go to thebclub.co.uk. R.S.V.P. to librarian@great-eastern-hotel.co.uk.
