Father’s Day Guide

Mom gets all the attention, but Dad doesn’t mind. He just wants the remote all to himself. And your brother to move out of the house. Give the man some props for putting up with it all (time and time again).

He likes to be pampered, he just hates to admit it. Take him for a hot lather shave (and a very manly whiskey) at the newly minted Truman’s Gentleman’s Groomers (120 East 56th Street, between Park and Lexington Avenues; 212-759-5015).

He insists on pulling his pant-waist up as high as he can (it’s been grazing his nipples since ’85). Save him from geekdom with a classic leather messenger bag from Qara Argentina.

You’re the light of his life. But beer’s a close second. Get him a six-pack of brewsky glasses. Throw in a bottle opener made from bike chains or a quilted dude pillow for afternoon snoozes (P-13 China House, 20 Clinton Street, between Houston and Stanton Streets; 212-353-5052).

Remember the little things: Surprise him with his favorite deli sandwich and a trip to OTB. Or ride with him to Home Depot “just ’cause.”

If he’s a big bad voodoo daddy, take him to the refurbished Minton’s Playhouse. It’s been decades, but Billie and Dizzy’s jazz hangout is back in action (210 West 118th Street, between Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard and Saint Nicholas Avenue).

It’s sure to remind him of the days when he was a real Mac Daddy.
