The Italian Job

LIA’s Restaurant

DOC (Department of Corrections), DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles), LIE (Long Island Expressway). Rarely do three letters spell out a place you want to spend time.

Not true with LIA.

Named for the last three letters of “Italia,” the new neighborhoody Italian restaurant from Geoffrey Tracy (Chef Geoff’s) focuses on rustic Mediterranean flavors and comfort staples — like pasta, cheese, and gelato handmade in house using fresh, seasonal ingredients.

Linger on the breezy patio or at the hangoutable bar and sample the impressive list of Italian wines by the glass (which changes weekly) and bar snacks like spiced nuts, bruschettas, and homemade potato chips with gorgonzola dipping sauce.

Dinner and lunch menus feature hearty dishes like lobster pansotti, crispy fontina risotto balls, roasted organic chicken, and pizzas.

With all that, you’ll never want to leave.

And that, friends, is A-OK.

LIA’s, 4435 Willard Avenue, Chevy Chase (240-233-5427 or liasrestaurant.com).
