The Thai Is High

SbyDee Restaurant Opens

When attempting to lift one’s mood, so many options fall short. Shoes break. Blowouts become helmet hair. But a steaming bowl of coconut soup? That almost always does the trick.

So it’s little wonder, then, that SbyDee (pronounced sa-by-dee) means “doing just fine” in Thai — or that it’s the name of a new Thai restaurant, opening today in the space formerly occupied by Cha Gio.

Serving authentic, healthy cuisine, SbyDee is all about traditional feel-good fare — basil rolls, pad thai, and masaman curry — if you’re looking for a pick-me-up meal. If you’re feeling especially plucky, go for dishes like som tam salad: a mix of green papaya, carrots, and green beans tossed with chili, palm sugar, and lime juice.

Most of the kitchen’s offerings can be tweaked for vegetarians, and not one of SbyDee’s dishes is made with MSG.

That alone should put a smile on anyone’s face.
