Dear Fairy Godmother,

We’ve got a deal, right? I go to the ball. You whip up the dress. Together we land a prince. I hate to sound ungrateful, but how’s that supposed to happen when I’m wearing the same designer frock as the ugly stepsisters?

I know it’s difficult coming up with something original, but I have an idea that might make your job a little easier.

Maybe you could pick up one of the vintage-inspired gowns from Jason Wu’s glamorous new couture collection? Swathed in layers of peach and champagne silk satin, I’ll show our dear prince right off the bat that I’m princess material.

Sexy wasp-waisted corsets with peek-a-boo Chantilly lace will stir his imagination and let him know that I’m a modern girl. Pretty details like silk tulle and netting on 1950s-style mermaid dresses will lend the right amount of drama for my grand entrance and the premidnight exit, of course.

Which is another thing I’ve been meaning to talk to you about. But, for now, let’s focus on the dress.
