All’s Well That Ends Well

Monique Pean Jewelry

Ambivalence: all too often the source of tragedy.

Take that Hamlet guy. Could have been king of Denmark but for all that hemming and hawing.

Sometimes, however, indecision is actually inspiring. Monique Péan’s accessories combine scarves and chains, resulting in an impressive clothed and accessorized look.

Cheery vintage fabrics (sourced from estate sales and vintage shops in France) are attached to mismatched antique chains, charms, and semiprecious stones. They’re tied around the neck in a very bebop-meets-Motor City fashion. Plus, there are straightforward necklaces of multilayered gold strands with hefty bronze pendants, Swarovski crystals, and Tuareg charms.

Péan contributes a percentage of proceeds to an organization that provides scholarships to underprivileged kids in Haiti.

So “to buy or not to buy” will not be the question.

Available at Some Odd Rubies, 151 Ludlow Street, between Stanton and Rivington Streets (212-353-1736). To view styles, go to moniquepean.com.
