Thankfully, L.A.-based design duo Ziji — which means “confidence, shining out with dignity” in Tibetan — has come up with more subtle ways to exhibit your self-esteem.

An ode to celluloid’s most dangerous superwomen (think Jane Fonda in Klute and Anne Parillaud in La Femme Nikita), their edgy fall line is bad to the bone in a highly wearable way.

Jewel-tone tunics in luxurious silk crepe leave plenty of room for stunts, while a slinky avant-garde shirtdress demands total composure. Never let ’em see you sweat in the feminine charmeuse blouse paired with skinny slacks, or the poet-sleeve jacket. With a few of these key pieces, you’ll be able to take on the world.
