One woman’s trash is another woman’s It bag. Isn’t that how the expression goes?
It is according to Michele Pietra, owner of runway resale operation Metamorphosis Couture.
Using connections from her stylist days, Pietra scoops up gently worn designer togs from celebs, pro wardrobers, and other Betty McBuyalots then resells the goods to savvy shoppers (i.e., those allergic to plunking down $1,000 for a handbag).
Usually she’s by appointment only, but this Sunday and Monday, she’ll host a public sale at Fabric Salon in Beverly Hills. Among the Prada clutches, ChloĆ© jackets, and seemingly endless Manolos, you’ll find Missoni sweaters and Marni pumps — all priced 60 to 90 percent off retail.
Celebrate your deals with wine and snacks. And since you’re at a salon, you might as well treat yourself to a new ’do.
Because this kind of blowout is good for you and your wallet.
Public sale, Sunday, February 11, noon-5 p.m.; Monday, February 12, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Fabric Salon, 152 South Beverly Drive, between Wilshire and Charleville Boulevards, Beverly Hills (310-248-5227). To schedule an appointment, e-mail michele@metcouture.com. To see styles, go to metcouture.com.
