Edelweiss, edelweiss
Every morning you greet me …
Cappy von Trapp didn’t actually come out and say it, but that song was totally about Maria.
Next time you’re burning to express something but don’t want to blow your cover, say it with an Edelweiss card.
Formerly of dynamic duo Tennis, Anyone?, local designer Annemaree Rea’s love notes are particularly persuasive. Illustrations of faceless couples are accompanied by messages that are coy (“Let’s ‘Study’ Together”), straightforward (“Baby, let’s make it happen”), or positively blunt (“It’s time for love”).
When you want to be downright cryptic, send a Bowl o’ Chimps greeting. The recipient won’t have a clue what you mean but will no doubt be charmed by the childlike rendering.
Cards are hand-printed using a Japanese silk-screen printer, and colors pop beautifully on the all-white background. Thus piquing your interest in snail mail once again.
Watch it bloom and grow forever.
Available at Little Otsu, 849 Valencia Street, between 19th and 20th Streets (415-255-7900 or littleotsu.com). To see styles, go to edelweissgreetings.com.
