Come See Comme Ca

Comme Ca Readies to Open

There’s a place in France where the naked ladies dance.

Big deal. Hollywood has those on every other corner — and they serve free lunch. What L.A. could use is a new brasserie.

Luckily, Comme Ca opens Friday and the reservation lines are open now.

Lamenting the town’s deficiency of superb bistros, Sona and Boule Executive Chef David Myers hasn’t tampered much with traditional fare: steak frites with herb butter or bearnaise; escargot persillade; salade des legumes; and, mais oui, soupe a l’oignon gratinee with melted Gruyere. A chalkboard bearing literary quotes and recipes feels authentic, while Tokyo-designed seats and pieces sourced from international flea markets shake things up.

Myers also brought in Sammy Ross from NYC’s Milk & Honey to create a speakeasy-inspired drink menu with the likes of Gordon’s Cup (gin, cuke, lime, sugar, and salt) and the Penicillin (Scotch, ginger juice, honey, and lemon).

All this — and a comfy neighborhood vibe.

Now that’s something worth singing about.
