They say you can’t buy comfort.
But a seat at Nicholas Morgenstern’s The General Greene gets you close.
The new Fort Greene dining spot is, like its chef-owner, subtly dashing. The breezy corner landmark has windows, outdoor seating, and bikes parked inside.
With help from pal Ryan Skeen (Resto), the comfort food menu comes off easy and understated. All your down-home favorites are here: braised meatballs, twice-baked potatoes, bread pudding, crispy chicken with sweet corn, pork ribs. Bar snacks include radishes with sea salt and anchovies, pickled eggs, American beers, and wines.
And there’s more to look forward to: breakfast, brunch, and lunch; a back space for parties; a mobile ice cream cart (with a variety of Morgenstern’s homemade batches).
But first, tonight’s opening — which should be smooth like pudding.
Yep, they’ve got that, too.
