Despite the many callus cushions, arch supports, and bandages Cinderella employed, her glass slippers felt like flower vases crammed on her feet.
Sure, it appeared to Princey Pie that she walked on air. But her limp was noticeably unladylike.
So Cinderella enlisted Portland’s Sara Barner to create a pair of custom, handmade leather sandals befitting a princess. The craftswoman began with a hand-molded sole to provide the ultimate supportive shape. Then she attached Italian calfskin or English bridle straps with solid brass tacks.
Three graceful women’s styles — the Bette wedge, and the strappy, casual Maude and Lotus (she also has three men’s styles) — were presented in a multitude of colors, from earthly tans to ethereal pastels.
“Ahh,” sighed Her Royal Hauteness when she slipped on a pair. “These are heaven.”
Finally, a shoe she didn’t want to leave on the palace steps.
