From blessing souls to kissing grits, Southerners can make just about anything sound appetizing.
But there was no need to gussy things up at new Dogwood Restaurant. Chef Shane Touhy’s grits bar does the trick all by itself.
Opening week is all about creamy, yellow, stone-ground grits with add-ons like lowcountry shrimp, fried oysters, and ham and pimento cheese. On the regular menu, try shaved cabbage and radish salads with lemon buttermilk dressing; smoked short ribs with grilled peaches; and the burger with applewood bacon, roasted garlic aioli, and gouda.
Lunch is coming soon: Expect soup flights (zucchini and watercress! Vidalia onion and white cheddar!), duck clubs, and BLT shrimp salad sandwiches.
That’s music to your ears and taste buds.
