So your palate will be in raptures with the imaginative comfort food at Franklin’s new South Boston outpost. Consider it the original’s groovier cousin with a contemporary menu and wicked new threads.

Where the South End spot is all cozy comfort, Franklin Southie is cool and collected — with a prime corner locale, gaping windows, and a refreshingly spacious dining room filled with local art. Lounge at the bar for a Pegu Club (the cocktail menu’s on fire) and cider-glazed chicken wings or linger over smokey roasted mussels and sunchoke ravioli in the restaurant.

Nocturnal Nellies will be delighted to hear that dinner is served ’til 1:30 a.m., seven days a week — and you might actually find a seat after 11 p.m.
