Hudson Restaurant Opens

Your glass is half empty. Which means that you’ll take another now, barman — and keep ’em coming.

When reality’s biting, take a load off at Hudson. The owners of Smarty Pants have finally opened their second joint in the old Totem Equipment building.

A horseshoe bar, cushy stools, damask wallpaper, coffee parlor, and vintage-style lights update the original space with its giant wraparound windows and their chipped white trim.

From the kitchen, a Southern-inspired menu offers deep-fried French toast, a pulled pork omelet, and shrimp and cheesy grits at weekend brunch. Lunch includes po’boys and patty melts; dinner serves pan-roasted chicken, mac ’n’ cheese, and flat iron steaks.

Happy hour (weekdays, 4-6 p.m.) is the perfect post-work pick-me-up with discounted dishes, cheap cocktails, and one-dollar High Lifes.

To help you not get so down on yours.

Hudson, 5000 East Marginal Way South (206-767-4777 or hudsonseattle.com).
