What’s old is new again — Melrose Place, mohawks, your mom’s face.
For a spot that really knows how to bring the past into the present, swing by J.E.M. home store, opening today in the South End.
The sunlit shop (with seriously bright blue walls) doubles as a showroom for owner/furniture designer Jane Miller, who uses repurposed wood and metals from around New England in her massive pieces. Check out the one-of-a-kind bar carts made from reclaimed steel or the nearly one-ton rolling coffee table.
If you’re after something a little less hefty, she has accessories like Susan Raber Bray’s ceramic pots, Christien Meindertsma’s rope lights, and finds from Brazil and Holland. There’s vintage loot from New England, too.
Because buying new is just so old.
