Talavera Mexican Restaurant Opens

talavera!

Usually when you feast on street food, you’re three margaritas deep.

And you awake humbled (and gassy) from your greasy walk of shame.

But you can brazenly embrace the sidewalk-style fare at Talavera Restaurant. The up-end Mexican joint, opening today, serves classic dishes inspired by the street markets — and restaurants — of Mexico City, home to the owners (the Jaguar Ceviche gang).

Start with table-side guacamole served with handmade chips. Next there’s Oaxaca-stuffed chile rellenos (for vegetarians) or short ribs in mole sauce (for meatavores). Seafood highlights include goat cheese-topped crab enchiladas and fresh tuna tacos.

Rounding out the authenticity: the tequila list, Mexican beers, and hibiscus-infused margaritas.

As for decor, Talavera is a type of Mexican pottery, and the colorful work adorns the space.

Which trumps the ambience at Bob’s Taco Truck.
