Arch Arrival

Dulce Shoes

dulce summer sandals!

For five long months, you covered them with cashmere, wrapped them in wool, and asphyxiated them with argyle. Spring has sprung: Your feet deserve a breather.

Give your toes some wiggle room courtesy of Dulce DeHaven, who kissed her job as an architect good-bye to start an eponymous accessories collection. Credit DeHaven’s Brazilian background with schmancy details (skyscraping heels, metallics, studs). Well-engineered platform soles and a focus on functionality make the shoes wearable into the wee hours.

Supple suede, leather, naturally sourced jute and cotton, and tilapia and ostrich skins from eco-conscious Brazilian tanneries lay a fierce foundation for the designs. For spring and summer, DeHaven artfully dyed leathers and suedes to produce a vibrant watercolor effect. All that, and they retail in the mid-$100’s. Step to it.

Available at À Pied, 2037 West Roscoe Street, at Seeley Avenue (773-281-2210 or apiedshoeboutique.com). To see styles, go to dulcebags.com.
