Sunglasses and chocolate? (Mais oui!)
Leave it to those crazy Europeans: Today the much-hyped Lunettes et Chocolat opens in NoLIta.
A recipe cooked up by caterer and artist Maribel Lieberman and Selima Salaun (creator of Selima Optique), the boutique sells hand-made chocolates (decorated with sugar transfers of paintings by Maribel’s husband) as well as jewelry, and (what will they think up next?), sunglasses. The decor’s a sight too: Lilac walls, white ceramic floors, a tiny English garden in back, and small bar where you can sit and sip hot chocolate or tea or have a nibble. “Food is as much about fashion as the latest designer wardrobe,” says Lieberman.
Our only concern? How many insanely decadent chocolates can you eat until you have to buy a entirely new designer wardrobe one size larger?
