How to Look Cool When It's Blazing Hot

Luv Aj Jewelry Launches

When it comes to dressing in the heat, you aim for maximum style, minimum effort — on your part, anyway. Luv Aj, the new line of accessories from Los Angeles designer Amanda Thomas, does all the work.

Start with breezy basics then reach for the recent Otis grad’s statement-making body chains, which range in complexity from the simple gold and gunmetal Cross Armor to the heavily detailed brass Chainmaille. Armor-like pieces provide a one-two ring-and-cuff punch, and the knuckle-busters are surprisingly dainty.

When even that seems like too much fuss, turn to more familiar necklaces and bracelets that are easier to wear but no less intriguingly complex. The Fool’s Gold necklace perfectly tangles a mix of metallics in an array of sizes with a string of chunky pyrite beads. The Ruffle gets its tough/sweet look from the hefty-looking links coiled around snake chain. In short, it’s hot.

Available at Feature Boutique, 11958 San Vicente Boulevard, between South Saltair and Montana Avenues, Brentwood (310-826-6600 or featureboutique.com); online at luvaj.com, $50-$270.

I love me some pyrite. And for the hot hot summer, a hemp linen cross-body bag ($89): http://www.revealshop.com/products/boho-chic-balloon-bag
