Just east of Downtown and neighboring Dodger Stadium, you’ll find a 2.5-mile, flower-filled, scenic loop that winds though part of Elysian Park’s 600 lush, green acres. Watch out for joggers — they come out of nowhere.
Consider this a gateway drug for nature lovers. Oak and sycamore trees, a secret seasonal waterfall, and ocean views has drawn outdoorsy types to the Santa Monica Mountain canyons since the ’20s.
New York’s only working historical farm (from 1697) includes landmark buildings, greenhouse, livestock, orchard, and herb garden. It hosts campouts, corn field adventures, agricultural classes, and lots of cuddly animals.
Hosting doggy days to jazz fests, the park remains the city’s big green oasis. Pack a basket for a picnic, fill up at the green market, and soak in the sun. There are plenty of grassy knolls to go around.
