Party at Ponce

What: Throw down with tunes from the Indigo Girls, Shawn Mullins, and Francine Reed paired with food from chefs like Anne Quatrano (Bacchanalia), Jay Swift (4th & Swift), Hugh Acheson (Empire State South), and Shaun Doty (Yeah Burger) in the former City Hall East before it becomes Ponce City Market (a cool mixed-use development).
Why: A portion of the proceeds benefits the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership and Georgia Organics.

Switch Modern

What: Museum of Design Atlanta gets a retail space stocked with sleek, functional, and fun items by FontanaArte, Alessi, and Project Watches (to name-drop a few).
Why: Rosenthal vases, Strida folding bikes, Gräf & Lantz wallets and totes, and goods starting at $20.
When: Opens Sun. Tues., Wed., Fri. & Sat., 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thurs., 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sun., noon-5 p.m.

Fifi Runn Dog Collars

What: Studs and bitches alike will drool over colorful, clever neckwear ($34), like the What Would Lassie Do style and electric ’80s print by graphic designer/canine lover Shari Margolin.
Why: Each month 10 percent of proceeds goes to a different dog-related charity (Puppies Behind Bars thru Oct. 31).

Flux 2011 Event
More than 30 public art projects (dance, music, theater, projections, multimedia, sound and light installations, parades, puppetry) take over the streets and vacant spaces of Castleberry Hill, culminating in a pyrotechnics display.

Ribs & Whiskey at Marlow’s Tavern

What: Five weeks of finger-lickin’ specials like St. Louis-style glazed ribs, drunken chicken, and bourbon bread pudding.
