Lot 7 Opens on Valencia

Shellfish, Crudo, and International Flavors

lot 7 restaurant san francisco!

Lot 7 opened very quietly this week, and we haven’t seen such obsession with numbers since Rain Man.

Not only does the seven refer to the restaurant’s physical location on Valencia but also to the menu’s seafood focus (seven seas), global flavors (seven continents), and support of local farmers and fishermen (SF’s seven square miles).

The focus is on freshness, with limited-run ingredients (caught day of) transformed with techniques from Louisiana to Egypt. Mussels satisfy Spanish cravings with pasilla peppers while northwest clam chowder is decidedly American. House-made mushroom tagliatelle and Wagyu steak round out landlubber options.

The red-walled space reflects international impartiality, with massive ’20s-era SF photos and salvaged lanterns inflecting Asian flair.

And since we’re talking digits, $1 oysters, $3 beers, and $4 hard-to-find wines add up at the daily happy hour (4 to 6 p.m.).

Looks like seven’s lucky for everyone.

Lot 7, 974 Valencia Street, between 20th and 21st Streets (415-817-1212).
