I hate thinking about what to eat. And pregnancy is not just about eating, it’s about eating for two — and eating with a purpose. Thankfully Kim Snyder, nutritionist to the stars and DailyCandy pal, is lending a hand with healthy snack ideas. I’m hoping this will cure me of my morning, noon, and midnight cravings for chilled Junior Mints.

I am hungry all the time but can’t stomach more than a few bites. What is a quick, healthy snack that will fill me up?
Hummus is a great vegetarian snack, but most commercial hummus is made from canned chickpeas, which are cooked, recooked, denatured, and completely devoid of their natural enzymes. Chickpeas are also pretty starchy. This version is based on zucchini instead of chickpeas, but you still get calcium, amino acids (protein), and minerals from the tahini, which is ground sesame seeds.

Chickpea-Free Hummus

Ingredients
2 organic zucchinis, chopped
¾ c. raw tahini
½ c. fresh lemon juice
¼ c. olive oil
3-4 garlic cloves, chopped
½ tbsp. ground cumin
High-quality sea salt, to taste

1. Blend all ingredients until smooth.

2. Dip celery, red peppers, cucumbers and enjoy.
