Pick up local delicacies and learn the magic of mason jarring

Someone says “Can it,” and you shut your mouth (or pop open a cold one).

But at Preserving Place (opening tomorrow), it’s all about the old-school practice of food preservation. Canning queen Martha McMillin, who grew up watching her grandmother make magic with mason jars, heads up the shop.

In-house creations include peach jam with chocolate mint infusion, watermelon rind pickles, sweet onion confit, lemon tomato spread, and ATL-1 steak sauce (renowned chef Virginia Willis developed signature recipes) at the rustic, Charleston-esque space. Peruse other local and regional products, such as NaturAlmond almond butter, Doux South pickled eats, Hotlanta Honey, Beautiful Briny Sea salts, and more.

Learn to DIY at hands-on workshops (moms, there’s a baby food class) in the gleaming kitchen/event space, then pick up the equipment you need in the store.

And put a lid on it.
