Escape to Food Paradise at Big Sky Buckhead

Hector Santiago’s mountain lodge is marvelous

We lamented the loss of chef Hector Santiago’s Spanish fare when Pura Vida and Super Pan closed, but he’s finally back with a new restaurant, Big Sky. And we got our hands on his checklist (shh).

1. Two-story mountain lodge (wood galore, taxidermy, outdoorsy murals) in the heart of Buckhead — a nod to our love for the high-altitude lifestyle.

2. The pork belly coconut buns everyone’s been crying about since Super Pan closed.

3. Heated, 35-seat rooftop patio constructed for killer skyline views.

4. Sriracha wings and a burger with caramelized bacon and onion chipotle spread on an H&F bun.

5. Brunch bowls on weekends (think eggs, slow-cooked beef, and black beans and rice) and dulce de leche donuts.

6. Chug-worthy agua frescas (passion fruit, beet, and blackberry), plus cocktails like the Buffalo Toddy (a bourbon and tea concoction) and Alpine Margarita (grapefruit, Grand Marnier).

7. A happy hour scene but also a stay-all-night vibe.

8. What Buckhead has been missing.

His work here is done.
