The Clean-Out Woman

Spring Cleaning Charities

It’s there. Staring, as if it had eyes. Nagging, a constant reminder of your bad judgment.

Sweetie, that miniskirt is never going to fit. Not today, not five hopeful pounds from now. (Two words: sausage casing.)

Time to let go and embrace closet therapy, folks. Just in time for spring cleaning, and for many a good cause. Here are three.

The Enchanted Closet
What: A discount prom and homecoming boutique for local high schoolers in need of dresses.
Why: In honor of your senior formal hangover.
How: Take your finery before March 10 to Sandy Springs Library, 395 Mount Vernon Highway, front lobby. For info, e-mail info@enchantedcloset.org.

My Sister’s House
What: A campus and center for abused women and children. They accept everything from books and VHS tapes to jeans and sweaters.
Why: The women are rebuilding their lives. And you don’t need three copies of Clueless.
How: Call ’em (404-532-1929). They’ll pick your stuff up.

Dress for Success
What: An organization that collects interview- and office-appropriate clothing for women who are re-entering the workforce.
Why: Pantyhose, schmantyhose, you’ve already got a job. One pair might open the door for someone who doesn’t.
How: Drop off on Mondays and Thursdays, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the America’s Mart, building 3, 250 Spring Street, suite 12w361 (404-589-1177). Plus sizes especially appreciated.
