Milt in Your Mouth

Call it what you will. Seductive. Pricey. More drama filled than the season two opener of Flavor of Love.

But one thing’s for sure about Atlanta’s dining scene: Keeping tabs on it can be utterly exhausting.

So it’s nice that Jay Pollock, exec chef at Milton’s, which opens tomorrow in Alpharetta, seems hell-bent on keeping things simple.

No need to bring a menu translator to the table. Prep work will be kept light (the Deep South salad equals iceberg lettuce wedge, green onion, smoked bacon, tomato, and Maytag blue cheese dressing — that’s it); and featured dishes (ravioli with homemade marinara, fried oysters, and blackened catfish, served with sides like grits and potatoes) are filling and to the point.

Come to think of it, the only things reminiscent of Milton’s trendster-filled, in-town sister eatery, The Cafe at East Andrews, are the hearth pine floors and perch-friendly fireplaces splattered around; and even these take on a different vibe once you’re seated at the restored farmhouse locale.

Then again. Nothing’s more appetizing in this town than a little novelty.
