Turns out Mom was right about a few things. Wearing clean underwear, brushing your teeth, and washing behind the ears really pays off in the social acceptance department.
So consider picking up a little more know-how from Cory Seebode. The mother and local designer behind cult fave kids’ line Baby London now offers weekly sewing lessons out of her Decatur studio.
Just bring scissors and a machine (another thing Ma should be good for). Seebode will provide the outlets and notebooks (with built-in compartments for sewing samples and scraps). After a quick overview of students’ goals (zippers? buttons?), she’ll tailor each session to everyone’s pace and preferences.
The next four-week series starts Monday, but other workshops (pattern making, advanced sewing and stitching) are in the works.
If you can’t make the regular classes, Seebode will take e-mail suggestions for dates and times that work with your schedule.
Unlike Mom, who was never up for much of that.
