On this coast, “so Hollywood” is anything but a compliment.
But you’ll reconsider that when you step into Noir, gallery owner Jason Wertz’s new film-inspired eatery, premiering night.
The cloistered lounge — a stark contrast to Wertz’s white-walled space next door — is all dramatic banquettes and blood-red fainting couches. The menu includes small plates like cheese with citrus preserves, spaghetti squash fritters, and duck confit.
The glossy black bar serves Cafe Richard coffee (a rare find stateside), and silent projections of Joan Crawford-era films show on exposed brick overhead.
Count on Noir to mix things up, from Cameroon spider tables and late-night film screenings to a boutique wine list that reflects Wertz’s European travels and special selections to coincide with his latest gallery shows.
See? A little glitz and glamour never hurt anyone.
