Open Up a Little

Finally, you’ve found your match: a good-looking, down-to-earth listener who will stand by your side and stay rooted to what’s important.

If only you knew more about your buddy than its scientific floral name.

Here’s a blooming idea for you both: Atlanta Botanical Garden’s orchid care clinics.

Bring one or two potted orchids between 10 a.m. and noon on the last Saturday of each month, and specialists will coach you through proper care — temperature and light conditions, soil mixes, and watering schedules. And for just $5 per plant, they’ll provide repotting materials for flowers that have outgrown their planters.

By the way, don’t bring plants if the weather dips below 60 degrees. Orchids don’t do so well in the cold, so on chilly days sessions will be Q&A’s rather than hands-on tutorials.

But since classes run all year long, you’ll have plenty of time to turn over a new leaf.
