Veruca Salt was having a very bad day. Contrary to popular belief, being dumped down a garbage chute doesn’t make you a good person. Nor does it inspire you to start a ’90s alt rock band.
Shoulda looked into that royalties lawsuit, she thought, schlepping through Decatur Square.
Then she saw it. Was it? It was! A chocolate, well, bar. That’s the ticket!
She entered The Chocolate Bar, her mouth watering at the sight of chip-size cocoa nibs, milk chocolate squares, and cocoa-dusted marshmallow pulls — all within arm’s reach.
“I want a chocolate martini now!” she demanded.
“You’re welcome,” said owner Karen Britain, serving the signature concoction of syrup, Godiva liqueur, and creme.
Veruca slurped it down and ordered everything on the menu — from artisanal cheeses to K Chocolat truffles.
This day’s getting better by the second, she thought.
It was something even she could wait in line for.
