the insider's guide to your city
DailyCandy is a handpicked selection of all that's fun, fashionable, food related, and culturally stimulating in the city you’re fixated on (and all over the Web).
Gunshot. And you’re off, propelled by whistles, cheers, and adrenaline.
You think: I may actually finish the Peachtree! I’m taking no prisoners! I’m bound for glory!
You glance back. Cringe. There’s carnage in your arm-flailing wake. Women. Children. Grown men. In your exuberance, you’ve taken them out left and right, like flags on a slalom course.
Time for running coach Lee Fidler. The Atlanta Track Club vet designs personal running and training programs, stressing form-fixing drills and stamina-building exercises. (Turns out those freestyle running moves actually tucker you out, in addition to hurting those around you.)
Fidler also leads a group workout (recommended once you’ve gotten the proper form down) and suggests that you start training at least two months ahead of time for the Peachtree (or any comparable racing distance).
After all, it’s never too early to get off on a good foot.
Especially in your case.
