Fashion statements are a lot like verbal ones. Marrakech meets Elizabethafarian? If it sounds that ridiculous, you know you’ll look it.
Ditch the empty jargon and look to Tricky Threads, a debuting L.A.-based clothing line that — ironically — doesn’t pull any tricks.
Designer Sarah Goldstein, a former Fred Segal buyer, uses sturdy stitch work and double-layered cuts to create super-soft, wearable cotton jersey dresses. You’ll want to traipse around in the oatmeal and gray wrap numbers, sweetheart-neck blousons, and color-block frocks that just sweep the floor.
Pair them with a simple white tank or toss them over jeans or hot shorts (did somebody say double entendre?) and wear them as tops.
Either way, you’ve got yourself a look that won’t get lost in translation.
