They were an unlikely duo, April Phillips and our fair city.
She: a would-be dilettante who trained at Portland’s American Barista & Coffee School (yes, they have their own school) before making moves to brew on her own. This town: a half-caf crazed herd looking for anything to lull them through their guilty-pleasure morning show commutes.
But, somehow, we got Sip out of the deal.
The French-pressed selections (only $2.50 for a large!), whole-leaf teas, and Mayan chocolate espresso shooters at the new cafe, opening Friday, should take the drip-drip-drip out of south Buckhead coffeeing. Meanwhile, the sleek, communal-tabled space (think The Globe with warmer lighting), wooden bar with inlaid cup holders, craft beer menu, and basil and formaggio sandwiches with raspberry preserves round out the reasons to give Sip a go.
You’ll certainly be glad Phillips did.
