Holeman and Finch Public House

The best part about seasons with no family holidays: no tableside feuds or gravy boat mishaps. The worst: You’re dying to grub around a family table, and the pizza guy is on a first-name basis with your cat.

Tonight, get the good without the bad at Holeman and Finch Public House. The new spot facing Restaurant Eugene comes from owner Andy Minchow (Repast) and across-the-way neighbor/business partner chef Linton Hopkins.

Sit at the communal table for memories of Grandma’s best (crawfish beignets with citrus vinegar, chevre gratin) and high-end twists on Euro peasant food (pancetta carbonara, a house-cured charcuterie plate). Quirky cocktails like Southern Cola are made with cane-sugar sweetened Coke.

The full menu is available until 1:30 a.m. and they also serve Sunday brunch. Soon-to-open H&F Bread Co. is already baking for the resto daily.

Not even Mom can beat that.
